Simplicity aces disc challenges

Almost 20 years ago, a small family company excited about the concept of zero till, built their first single disc opener, the Austil. What followed was 14 years of constant improvement and a strong group of owners keen to embrace conservation tillage.

Simplicity Australia saw an opportunity to take this opener to the next level, and purchased Austil Equipment in 2016.

Simplicity reviewed, documented and invested significantly into the refinement of this product, and the following year released the SD-400 Single Disc Opener.

The prominent feature of the SD-400 is the large 20" coulter mounted at a compound undercut angle. This design gives the units the ability to penetrate tight soils. With 11 incremental depth settings, each unit has the ability to moisture seek to depths of up to 150mm.

The large size also provides excellent stubble handling and gives a longer lasting life for more hectares planted.

This disc is secured in a sturdy cast body, that is precision machined for the compound angle required for optimum performance.

The undercut gives each unit the ability to dig, without requiring a heavy spring or frame to penetrate tight soil.

Each unit is fitted with quality pivot components to withstand the harsh operating conditions encountered in Australia.

Seeding depth is controlled with a gauge wheel on each unit, with changes to depth setting using a simple pin and cam system. The gauge wheel has also be designed with a steel ring scraper to continuously clean the working edge of the disc.

It comes with either a solid or spoked hub to assist with soil and trash movement. A specially designed profile on the gauge wheel allows for compaction close to the disc to be minimised.

To ensure sufficient contact with the soil, each unit has adjustable down pressure, and adjustable press wheel packing force.

All of the incremental adjustment to depth, down pressure and packing force can be achieved without manual spring tensioning or loosening. The mounting system also allows for individual units to be easily lifted up when not require for skip row planting configuration.

Simplicity Australia is proud to offer the SD-400 units on a range of toolbars to suit a host of operations. All units mount on 7x7 inch RHS, and can be mounted on linkage and trailed units in single or dual row configurations and narrow transport single row forward folding models.

30 Series provides fresh approach

In 2018, Simplicity Australia launched a fresh approach to its air cart range with the release of the 30 Series.

With 23 different models available in the range, sizes from 14,000 litres to 30,000 litres, and 10 models with integrated stainless liquid tanks, there are plenty of choices on offer.

The 30 Series comes standard with the proven and reliable ground-driven linear actuator variable rate system which offers simple and accurate rate control.

The secret to a good calibration, is sample size, and the integrated hydraulically-driven calibration motor makes this task a breeze.

Exclusive to the 30 Series is Simplicity's optional section control system. With the high cost of crop inputs, it is no secret that section control offers broad acre growers the opportunity save significant amount of money by reducing overlap and minimising double application.

Based upon the ground-driven system, and maintaining a simple mechanical link between the drive wheel and each individual metering spool, the system provides reliable speed relative rate control. When the section is deactivated, the drive is simply disengaged.
