Mobile Phone Coverage Where You Need It Most

It is a recognised fact that regional areas need connectivity to compete in a networked world and to improve business opportunities.  Some of the problems around remote areas are caused by limited (or no) mobile coverage. So improving coverage with either fixed line data, cellular or satellite is one way to ensure rural business' can grow and take advantage of opportunities.

Communications experts can be the key to driving rural growth by expanding options available.  If you are thousands of km's from the nearest town, with no chance of NBN and the closest mobile signal just limps through your door - the best way forward is to speak to one of our experts to see what they can do for you.

Business Profile/Needs
A Cattle Yard business 40kms West of Goondiwindi wanted to automate their operation to save double handling, data re-entry and human error as well as providing information to decision makers for real time decision making.

They wanted to capture data straight from the cattle in the crush and load the information direct onto the main server located 40km away. With no mains power in the cattle yards a solar powered installation to improve cellular and data coverage was the only solution.

Product/s Used
A Solar Installation was designed including a battery in a metal enclosure including the following products:

Cel-Fi GO - Cel-Fi GO Stationary Repeater has been tested, authorised and approved by Telstra for use on the Telstra Mobile Network. It is a one box indoor coverage solution for Telstra's Next G® and 4GX networks operating on 3G 850Mhz or 4G 700/1800 bands (one band at a time).

It is designed to dramatically boost voice quality and increase data speeds V2 Modem

Robustel R2000 V2 - Supporting the new 4GX/700Mhz band (B28), the Robustel GoRugged R2000 V2 with Wi-Fi is a rugged 2G/3G/4G router offering state-of-the-art mobile connectivity for machine to machine (M2M) applications. Also, for those that want an industrial 3G/4G modem for an internet connection, that can handle higher temperatures and robust applications.

The Solution
The Solar Installation system provided the client with a 2.4Ghz Wifi Access using the Robustel R2000 V2 via Telstra 4GX and a Yagi Antenna. I can reach 30Mbps+ Download and 10Mbps+ upload speeds.

A Cel-Fi GO was positioned inside the box locked to 3G to provide better mobile coverage for everyone on the Telstra network in the cattle yards.

A Blackhawk M2M Puck Antenna was used as the output antenna for voice calls (3G) and Wifi (2.4Ghz) which simplifies the system.  Separation is achieved by mounting the antenna on the bottom of the metal enclosure.

Inside the box there is a USB to mico USB lead, as well as a micro to USB to lightning adaptor, able to charge all popular phones.  It also has a 150W inverter that can be plugged into a cigarette socket under the box. This is used for charging a laptop.  The other cigarette sockets are used to power the RFID scanners and other devices used at the cattle yards.  Multiple sockets are also mounted on the outside under the enclosure - 3 x cigarette sockets as well as a USB socket.
