The recall effects about 28,400 vehicles in the Australian market.
For involved vehicles, due to an issue in the design of a certain brake clutch disc inside the 10-speed transmission, the brake clutch disc may not immediately disengage when the vehicle is shifted to the neutral position.
If this condition occurs when the vehicle is on a flat surface, and if the driver does not apply the service brake or the parking brake, it could allow a vehicle to inadvertently creep forward at a low speed (up to about 6km/h), which could increase the risk of a crash.
For all involved vehicles, Toyota dealers will reprogram the transmission ECU software free of charge to vehicle owners. Transmission ECU software reprograming will take approximately 30 minutes. Depending on the Dealer's work schedule, owners may be required to make the vehicle available for a longer period of time.
Toyota Australia will contact all owners of involved vehicles to provide details of this safety recall campaign.
Owners with additional questions or concerns are asked to contact their local/preferred Toyota dealer in the first instance or the Toyota Recall Campaign Helpline on 1800 987 366 (Mon-Fri 8.00am-6.00pm AEST). Please quote the vehicle's 17-digit Vehicle Identification Number (VIN).
