Claas unveils new high horsepower tractors

Axion 900 series revamped - range covers 325-445hp

The four models, rated with a maximum output of 325-445hp (242-332kW), share a six-cylinder, 8.7 litre FPT Cursor 9 engine which complies with Tier 4 engine emissions.

Claas Harvest Centre group product manager, Dave Knowles, said the new Axions have undergone systematic refinement which includes a new variable geometry turbo that delivers optimum charge-air pressure according to the load and engine speed. 

“All models are capable of transferring their full power from a standing start and at all forward speeds without a boost,” Knowles said.

“In fact, 70 per cent of maximum torque is available even when idling. The advanced low-speed concept means the engine develops 18 per cent more torque than previously at a lower speed.”

All models are equipped with an upgraded ZF Terramatic transmission to match the higher output of the tractors. The CVT provides a speed range of 50m/h to 50 km/h.

The new Axions can also be specified with either the new Claas Information System Plus (CIS+) or proven Claas Electronic on-Board Information System (CEBIS).

The tractors will be available to order early 2018.
