Tillage is again a topic of discussion with many farmers having parked their tillage gear up years ago to adopt a no-till farming system. While the no-till system has served us well and delivered benefits in spades, it has brought about a new set of challenges.

Strategic tillage looks to be a potential solution to some of the woes that come with no-tillage systems and sales growth in speed-disc in particular has grown exponentially over the past five years.

Those looking to adopt a strategic tillage operation in their no-till regime can take heart in research conducted over five years in New South concluding that where required to address agronomic limitations, damage to soil structure caused by tillage is generally small and a full recovery is rapid

Kondinin Group researchers have been speaking to manufacturers and owners of speed discs to compile a comprehensive overview of the market offerings and detail how farmers have utilised them in their cropping operation.

In total, 16 different machines were reviewed for the upcoming Research Report with case studies from five owners outlining how speed discs have been put to work on their farms.

A growing series of reports, each focused on a key discussion point for the farming sector, brought to you by the Kondinin team.
