From the 20-cow herd milked by hand in the 1930s right up to milking 360 cows and being the second-largest dairy in Queensland through the 1990s, Greg has now moved towards using robotics in the dairy operation. Greg’s interest in the prospect of robotic dairies was first ignited in 2010, and it is since evolved into not just a viable dairy innovation but a profitable tourist attraction, with nearly 30,000 tourists visiting the farm to witness the live Robotic Milking experience. But as the structure of the supply chain poses problems for farmers in Queensland, Greg’s philosophy has been to counter market forces with a positive public campaign which has proved popular with young and old.
