It comes a week after Western Australia shattered harvest records, with over 16Mt of grain received, and every eastern state outperformed the previous year.
It was a particularly strong harvest for Victorian growers, almost tripling the volume of last year despite early struggles with inclement weather.
Victoria’s GrainCorp sites are still receiving grain, but at last count the state’s total stood at 3.2Mt – approximately 2Mt more than last year.
Sites in northern Victoria will wind down this week.
New South Wales growers also had a bumper harvest, with receivals set to nudge 7Mt – up almost 3Mt on last year.
Harvest activity in Queensland and northern New South Wales is complete, with the focus now on post-harvest deliveries.
Queensland topped out at 1.79Mt, approximately 600,000 tonnes more than last year, while harvesting in southern New South Wales is still continuing after rain delays.
With more deliveries expected, it is anticipated the total will climb past 12Mt.
