Titled "Producer led innovation: The stories of farmers using innovation everyday", the session was hosted by Sarah Nolet, co-founder of innovation program Farmers2Founders, and featured Mark Mortimer from Centre Plus Merinos, Tullamore, New South Wales, Brad Jones from Bungulla Farms, Tammin, Western Australia and Sue Middleton from the Brennan Rural Group.
The session was standing-room only with some delegates watching from behind the breakout presentation area. The audience was rewarded with ample insight on how ag-tech has become a vital part of the speakers' businesses, mixed in with various examples of challenges they have faced along the way.
The strong interest in the farmer-led panel is testament to the growing demand for more collaboration and direct communication between the ag-tech sector and producers.
Organisers indicated that more than 200 primary producers registered for the 2020 evokeAG event, well up from the inaugural edition last year.
The event will be moving to Perth next year and it is hoped an even larger group of farmers will be able to attend and benefit from hearing directly from ag-tech and agrifood businesses and the many other stakeholders in the sector.
evokeAG is regarded as the Asia Pacific region's largest agrifood and ag-tech event and allows delegates to explore what's next in the agrifood tech space, covering three main themes; food, farm and future.
