An important telecommunications survey is being conducted by the NFF. Picture Ben White.

Every three years, the Australian Government conducts an Independent Regional Telecommunications Review, and the review committee will be consulting with regional communities and individuals across Australia prior to reporting to the Minister for Regional Communications by 31 December.

NFF chief executive officer, Tony Mahar, said these reviews are a great opportunity for rural, regional and remote communities to register their views and concerns with telecommunications services in the bush.

In response to the review, the NFF and its members are looking to build on information gathered in 2018, to see how telecommunications services have improved over the last three years through to 2021.

"The NFF telecommunications survey is an opportunity for the NFF to understand the on-ground experiences of our regional, rural and remote communities prior to making our submission to the review committee," Mahar said.

Improved connectivity is key to achieving NFF's shared goal of Agriculture reaching $100 billion by 2030.

"The uptake of digital agriculture on farm could provide as much as $20.3 billion to the value of Australian agriculture, which is critical to our $100 billion goal," Mahar said.

"Please help us put this case forward by taking 10 minutes to fill out this survey. Your responses will remain anonymous and help us build the strongest case for better telecommunications in the bush," he said.

"We encourage those living in these communities to engage in the consultation. Quality and reliable connectivity are essential services, keeping our regions engaged, educated, safe and growing."
